Montarna Pitt: A Conversation About Motherhood

We sit down with Montarna Pitt, to talk Motherhood, life balance & change.

What are some lessons you wished you’d known before you became a Mum? What would you like to impart to other mothers?

I wish I’d been kinder to myself in the early days with my first baby. Don’t put pressure on yourself to be everything to everyone, I did this with Parker and I don’t know how I didn’t burn out. The silver lining of COVID for me was that it forced me to slow down and live in the moment more. Entering the world of motherhood is overwhelming and that’s OK, but it’s important to slow down and take whatever time you need to settle into your new role. I tried to take things much slower second time round and good job, because two children is much more hectic than I ever imagined!

GINIA Mum Montarna Pitt Interview

You have an exciting Career running the show at The Audience Agency, and maintain a full social schedule- did it take long to find the balance between parenting, work and leisure?

This is something I’m working on; it’s been a real struggle and I think I’ll always be chasing the ideal work life balance especially now I have a family. Parker is a headstrong two year old and Paityn is just coming out of a difficult phase with reflux and digestion issues, so I’ve had to roll with the punches day by day and hope that we reach a settled period at some point. That said, this year is already feeling lighter and more fun – being pregnant and a business owner during the COVID lockdowns was tough.

"I also believe kindness is key to everything in life; I would like my daughters to treat everyone the way they would like to be treated and to always be kind, as you never know what someone else is going through."

My Mum was determined to instil Independence- particularly as a Woman, Honesty, and Empathy in myself and my sisters growing up. Are there any core teachings that you want to establish with your kids?

My mum is such an inspiring woman – she ran a global business and travelled the world while raising her children and instilled a strong work ethic in my sister and I. I would love to pass on the same message of empowerment to my girls. I also believe kindness is key to everything in life; I would like my daughters to treat everyone the way they would like to be treated and to always be kind, as you never know what someone else is going through.
